Worried that you won’t be able to do your last minute shopping because of the cash crunch? Do not worry, SBI buddy is here to help you deal with your finances. Jumping on the bandwagon of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s push towards a cashless and digital economy, SBI the biggest public sector bank in the country has released a commercial asking people to go cashless. The commercial features a youngster apologizing to her teacher about the late fee payment because of a bank holiday. But her teacher smiles instead and tells her not to worry. She can easily pay the fees through SBI buddy app. All you need to do is install the app, use your pin code and transfer the money to the account of the person intended.

A wise move was made by the bank for the promotion of their app by showing an older woman to be more tech savvy. This was probably an attempt to appeal to the sensibilities of the older generation who are wary about the banner of cashless economy. Nevertheless, with most of us having an SBI account, the app is certainly going to appeal to the customers. All that you need to do is to own a Smartphone and to have a fast internet connection. After all, it can’t be that hard right?

SBI, with about 14,000 branches in the country has come up with a digital solution for our troubles. Given its wide outreach, the bank hopes to change the economic habits of people. It is to encourage people to take up cashless transactions.
